Real Madrid vs. Eibar 2015: Final score 3-0, easy for Los Merengues

Some stars rested for Real Madrid and it didn’t matter.

The pressure is still on Barcelona, who will need a win from a tricky fixture later in the day to keep their full game advantage over Real Madrid in La Liga’s title race. Los Merengues didn’t even have to play their strongest team to coast to a 3-0 win over Eibar at the Santiago Bernabeu. They’re now a point back, pending Barca’s match against Sevilla.

Jese Rodriguez got a rare start, with Gareth Bale out due to injury and James Rodriguez rested. Asier Illaramendi and ‘Chicharito’ Javier Hernandez also got rare starts.

Cristiano Ronaldo cushioned his lead over Lionel Messi in the golden boot race with a free kick in the 21st minute. His shot was hit with so much swerve that Xabi Irureta moved the wrong way and was made to look very silly when he came nowhere near the ball. Chicharito added to Madrid’s lead 10 minutes later, heading in a cross by Alvaro Arbeloa.

Madrid were in cruise control for the rest of the match, and Jese added a third goal for his team late in the second half.
