On Tuesday, Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid will meet for the seventh time this season, and the next two matches are the biggest of all. The Rojiblancos have gotten the better of their big brothers in the Supercopa de España, La Liga and Copa del Rey, but Real will feel OK about their season if they can get past Atléti in the UEFA Champions League.

Can Real Madrid finally get the better of Atlético Madrid?
In all six meetings, Real Madrid have failed to beat their crosstown rivals. They’ve drawn on two occasions as part of knockout competitions, where they’ve lost the other leg. In the league, Atléti have won both games, recording a 2-1 win at the Bernabeu early in the season and a stunning 4-0 thrashing at home, in which they could have easily scored double that with Los Merengues offering little opposition.
This is a rematch of last year’s Champions League final, where Atléti were in control for most of the match. But Sergio Ramos scored a stoppage time equalizer, and Real Madrid were the fitter team in stoppage time, where Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo went on to fire them to La Decima.
Both teams are fortunate enough to have minimal injury issues for this game. Fabio Coentrao, Sami Khedira and Pepe are slight doubts for Real Madrid, but should all be available for Carlo Ancelotti. Atlético Madrid have no reported injuries.
