Backheel Breakfast: Jurgen Klopp to Manchester City looks unlikely

Pep is City’s guy, forever and ever.

Jürgen Klopp is going to have multiple good options for employment next season, but it doesn’t look like Manchester City is going to be one of them. According to ESPN FC, Klopp will not be considered for the City job in the likely event that Manuel Pellegrini is fired.

If that sounds surprising, it probably shouldn’t. City have been long rumored to be more interested in bringing in Pep Guardiola than just about any other potential sporting decision or accomplishment. Expect them to hire a placeholder manager for next season, then go in for Pep next summer.

Klopp, meanwhile, will wait for someone else to call.
