Then Jermain Lens got on the ball and cut loose a hopeful shot from outside the box. It looked like Mati Fernandez had the shot covered, but fate had other ideas.

The shot took an insane deflection off Fernandez, pinging up high and then looping under the crossbar. All Fiorentina's goalkeeper could do was look on in resigned shock as it crossed the goal line.
