Backheel Breakfast: Iker Casillas is really sick of Real Madrid fans

He’s been booed frequently for going on three seasons, and he’s had enough.

A week after his heroics were just about the only reason Real Madrid beat Sevilla and stayed in the title race, Real Madrid’s supporters were back to booing Iker Casillas over the weekend. He was poor in the Champions League against Juventus, then bad again in a 2-2 draw against Valencia, which likely ended the La Liga title race.

For once, Casillas reacted to the whistles on the pitch. “F--k this”, he said, “You’re so annoying. Whistle whatever you want. I’m tired of this.”

Chances are, Casillas knows his time at the Bernabeu is up. Real Madrid have reportedly informed David De Gea’s representatives that they won’t come back in for him if he signs a new deal with Manchester United, because they’ll just find a different Casillas replacement. They’re determined to make a change now, and given Casillas’ three years of average form, it’s hard to blame them.
