Last week, for 75 minutes, Bayern Munich miraculously held off Barcelona. They were without their best players and constantly looked under threat, but defended well considering the circumstances. Then everything fell apart, and now they have to overturn a 3-0 deficit. Not only did they crumble at the end of the first leg of their Champions League semifinal, but they didn’t get an away goal either.

Is a comeback in the cards?
No one’s counting out Bayern, who are perfectly capable of scoring three goals at home against anyone. But with some of their best players injured, it’s not obvious that they have the firepower to get past Barca. Plus, the lack of an away goal is a killer. If Barcelona can score just once, the tie is all but over. It would mean Bayern would have to score five.
In addition to their lead, Barcelona have the benefit of having a clean bill of health. The only player there are any doubts over is Jeremy Mathieu. Bayern Munich will be missing David Alaba, Holger Badstuber, Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery for sure, while Manuel Neuer, Thiago Alcantara and Sebastian Rode are all in a race to get fit.
