Boca Juniors vs. River Plate live stream: Watch El Superclasico online here

Argentina’s top two teams play the first of a three-game series across two competitions.

Boca Juniors and River Plate are finally the top two teams in Argentina again. They traded the top spot throughout the 2000s before River’s relegation, but are on top of the league again. They entered this round of the Argentine Primera tied on top of the table on 24 points and are the two favorites for this year’s title.

The two teams are also drawn together in the Copa Libertadores, and will play the first leg of their round of 16 tie this week. Last season, they were matched up in Copa Sudamericana on either side of their league match. Boca kept River from winning the league title, helping Racing capture it, but couldn’t stop River from winning the Sudamericana.

This season, River are led by veteran forward tandem Fernando Cavenaghi and Rodrigo Mora, who have combined for 11 goals in 10 games. Boca have been more reliant on their defense, and they have the best in the league. They’ve only allowed five goals so far this season. And while their domestic wins have been more efficient than entertaining, the Copa Libertadores has been a different story. They have 19 goals in six games in that competition.

Both teams are mostly healthy, though some key players will be missing out. Alexis Rolin and Sebastian Palacios are out for sure for Boca, while Christian Erbes is a slight doubt. River are waiting on the fitness of Leonardo Ponzio, while Bruno Urribarri and Eder Alvarez Balanta will miss out for sure.

You can catch the game above, on a legal and HD YouTube stream from Futbol Para Todos.
