Tim Sherwood was widely mocked and derided for the better part of a year for being really bad at talking to the media. His honesty had him coming off as equal parts arrogant and ignorant, but it’s become clear since his appointment by Aston Villa that he’s neither. He kept them in the Premier League easily, won some huge FA Cup ties, and now faces off against Arsenal for a trophy at Wembley.

Tim Sherwood kept Aston Villa up comfortably, and he can complete an incredible campaign buy upsetting Arsenal in the FA Cup final.

Arsenal won the FA Cup last season in dramatic fashion, pulling off an extra time comeback victory over Hull City. That match ended the Gunners’ 10-year trophy drought, earning Arsene Wenger some acclaim from supporters who had started to wonder if the club needed to move on from their legendary boss. And while Arsenal didn’t challenge for the Premier League or Champions League titles this season, they’re certainly an improved side, and the Villains will be significant underdogs. Everyone’s expecting Arsenal to repeat.
In a strange turn of events, Arsenal are actually very healthy. Danny Welbeck is going to miss out on the match with a knee injury, but the rest of the squad is fully fit. Aston Villa have more problems, and might be a tad thin in central defense. Ciaran Clark is out, while Jores Okore is a slight doubt. Shay Given has a groin problem, so expect Brad Guzan to start in goal. Keiran Richardson is also a slight doubt, while long-term absentees Libor Kozak and Chris Herd remain out.
