Qatar hits back at English FA chief Greg Dyke by implying that his team stinks

Yeah, Dyke probably should be more worried about how lame England is.

No one is saltier about Qatar getting the 2022 World Cup than Americans, since they decided to launch a massive multi-agency investigation into FIFA corruption because of it. But the second-saltiest person on earth is Greg Dyke, the chairman of the English FA. When the news broke that Sepp Blatter was resigning as FIFA president, Dyke decided to start dancing on Qatar’s casket before anyone started lowering it into the ground.

“If I was the Qatari organisers I wouldn’t sleep very well tonight,” said Dyke to Press Association Sport. “There has been less evidence about corruption involving Russia. Qatar was never understandable - to have a World Cup in the middle of summer in Qatar when even FIFA’s health and safety people advised not to do it. I think if the evidence comes out which shows the bidding processes were above board that’s fine. If it shows they were corrupt then obviously the bids should be re-done, it’s as simple as that.”

This undoubtedly pissed off Qatar, who responded with a zinger.

While Qatar hasn’t qualified for a World Cup themselves, this is a salient point. Dyke should probably worry a bit more about his country’s worrying footballing decline than who hosts the 2022 World Cup. Point, Qatar.
