Backheel Breakfast: Chicharito won’t play for Mexico again this summer

Just a few days after they lost defender Hector Moreno to injury, “Chicharito” Javier Hernandez went down in Mexico’s friendly against Honduras on Wednesday, breaking his collarbone. That means he’ll be unable to play in the Gold Cup, where El Tri and the United States are co-favorites.

While Chicharito would probably love to play for his country and win a trophy, this isn’t going to hurt him financially. He’s negotiating with Orlando City, and there’s a slew of MLS teams that would be very willing to pay him $7 million per season.
