Alex Morgan the first woman on U.S. cover of EA Sports’ FIFA series

For the first time ever, there’s a woman on the cover of EA Sports’ FIFA video game. United States women’s national team star Alex Morgan joins Lionel Messi on the cover of the American version of the game. In Canada, Christine Sinclair will join Messi on the cover, while Steph Catley will be on the Australian version.

Not only is it about time a woman got on the cover -- it’s about time the game had women! This year’s edition of the game will be the first that has women’s national teams.

Morgan has 52 goals in 91 appearances for the USWNT and started the final five games of their World Cup-winning campaign despite entering the tournament with an injury. She scored the winning goal in the Round of 16 match against Colombia.

“Where’s Carli Lloyd?!?”, you’re all screaming, and we hear you. She’ll just have to settle for her Golden Ball.

You can read more about the game over at Polygon.
