Arsenal started this season with hopes that they could challenge for the Premier League title, but they’re not off to the best start. Petr Cech had a nightmare in an opening loss against West Ham, the Gunners struggled to a win over Crystal Palace and they were lucky to get a point against Liverpool. On Saturday, against Newcastle, they’ll expect to grab all three points.

The Gunners need a win to get back on track on Saturday.

The Magpies are playing better soccer under Steve McClaren than they did under John Carver last season, but they’ve yet to record a win this season. They have a slew of new signings, but they’re still working on clicking together. They did well midweek, with youngster Rolando Aarons helping to set up new signing Florian Thauvin for the best goal of the round in the League Cup.
For Arsenal, this is the last game current players have to impress Arsene Wenger and keep him from buying replacements. Francis Coquelin and Olivier Giroud have been heavily criticized, but Wenger has defended both of them.
Key Player -- Olivier Giroud
Speaking of Giroud! He might not be as good as the superstars Arsenal are linked to every window, but he’s pretty good. He also works hard for the team and does a lot to bring the players behind him into play. Arsenal will need his hold-up play and distribution more than anything else in this game.
Upset potential -- Moderate
Newcastle aren’t pushovers at home, even when they’re awful. They have one of the best crowds in England. There’s also some decent talent in this team, and Arsenal haven’t had a dominant match yet.
