One thing that many fans of the United States national team have wanted for a long time has been a great new crest. After years of a boring, poor-looking crest, they finally thought they’d gotten that with the sharp, clean, well-designed centennial crest, but that lasted only a year before U.S. Soccer reverted to a touched-up version of the same old boring crest they’d had for awhile.
U.S. Soccer may have an amazing new crest in 2016
The federation overseeing the United States national teams is finally improving the crest that represents them.

Now, that could finally be changing. According to Footy Headlines -- who are frequently very well-informed about things like uniform and crest changes -- the U.S. Soccer crest is about to change starting in 2016, and if they’re right, it’s nothing but good.
Like the much-loved Centennial crest, it’s sharp and clean, and in all honesty it makes much more sense than the current crest does for the United States. It has 13 red and white stripes, which fits with the actual American flag much better than the 11 blue and white stripes the current crest does. It also ditches the soccer ball and three stars that many fans objected to, and replaces the “U.S.” with the full “USA” acronym for the country.
It’s a pretty big upgrade from the current U.S. crest, and while maybe it could be better, U.S. Soccer fans will take progress at this point. Now pair that awesome crest with an improvement in the shirts the national teams wear, and both United States national teams will be looking sharp. And just imagine how that crest is going to look with the three World Cup championship stars the women’s team have earned above it. That’s gonna be awesome.
