Premier League leaders Arsenal will look to consolidate their position at the summit of the table when they travel to face Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday evening. The Gunners find themselves provisionally only two points clear of second-placed Leicester City, and will be hoping the Foxes' tough match away at Tottenham Hotspur will give them a chance to establish a bigger cushion.

Premier League table-toppers Arsenal travel to Liverpool on Wednesday.

Jürgen Klopp's Liverpool have shown potential in flashes, but their patchy form and ongoing injury crisis means they head into this match expected to find things difficult. They suffered a 2-0 defeat to West Ham United in their last Premier League outing, and have been cut six points adrift of the top four. Without star man Philippe Coutinho they've struggled for creativity, and a selection crisis in the defense is still raging. There's no doubt this game offers a big opportunity for their visitors.
Key player: Olivier Giroud (Arsenal)
Giroud isn't the most fashionable of strikers outside of rabid Arsenal fans, but there's no denying he's having an impressive season. The injuries to Alexis Sánchez and Danny Welbeck threatened to make the Gunners' goals dry up, but his 10 in 20 Premier League appearances (with only 14 starts) has proven invaluable. He'll be the man Liverpool's defense have been focusing their attention on in training.
Recent history
Arsenal have won three of their last six meetings with Liverpool (with two draws and only one Liverpool win), though they’ve failed to win away at Anfield in the last couple of attempts. The history books certainly give Arsenal the edge, but it’s a slender one.
Liverpool injuries and suspensions
Out: Joe Gomez, Danny Ings, Divock Origi, Jon Flanagan (knee); Martin Skrtel, Dejan Lovren, Jordan Rossiter, Philippe Coutinho (hamstring). In doubt: Jordon Ibe, Daniel Sturridge (hamstring); Jordan Henderson (foot); Mamadou Sakho (knee).
Arsenal injuries and suspensions
Out: Santi Cazorla, Francis Coquelin, Tomáš Rosický, Danny Welbeck (knee); Alexis Sánchez (hamstring); Jack Wilshere (leg). In doubt: None.
These sides are two of the most injury-hit in the entire division at present. Liverpool will still be without several important first-teamers, but will be hoping to welcome familiar faces Sakho, Henderson and Sturridge back into their matchday squad. The Gunners, meanwhile, are still waiting on the fitness of several of their regulars, including winger Sánchez and midfield anchorman Coquelin.
