Antonio Conte has lead Chelsea to the top of the EPL table, and now he’s set to try to keep them there.

Antonio Conte has his Chelsea team in excellent form, attacking freely in many matches while keeping a defense so stalwart that they haven’t give up a goal in the EPL since the last time they lost in league action in late September. It’s an incredible run of form and solidity that would be boosted to even higher levels with a decisive win over Tottenham, and one that could truly propel Chelsea as they try to pull away from the rest of the EPL.

Three big things to know
- Tottenham Hotspur can get no relief in their struggles, having just lost a match to AS Monaco in bitter fashion in the Champions League at midweek. They did just beat West Ham a week ago, but after all their struggles for the past two months it’s hard to feel overly positive for the North London club right now. They look out of sorts, out of ideas, and like they’re running low on hope. Mauricio Pochettini is an excellent manager who has gotten good results, but his seat has to be getting awfully warm right now — and a loss to Chelsea could make it red hot.
- It doesn’t help Spurs right now that their defense is in a shambles thanks to injuries, made worse for this match by Danny Rose being suspended. That’s made worse by his backup, Ben Davies, being among the injured, and with Toby Alderweireld out, plus neither Kevin Wimmer nor Jan Vertonghen seeming entirely fit, it could get ugly for their back line.
- Chelsea’s attack, meanwhile, is in excellent form, with Eden Hazard not only back in form but playing better than he ever has, and bolstered by Diego Costa’s excellent recent run. The Spanish international striker has scored in five of his last seven games for Chelsea, a run that’s helped show that he, too, has returned to his best self under Conte. The Italian manager may be known for leading defensive quality, but he’s certainly developed quite the attacking renaissance at Stamford Bridge.
