Three big things to know
- Arsenal have finally seemed to stabilize and improve their form, and that’s got them sitting just three points behind Chelsea for the EPL lead. Now, there’s no guarantee of any kind that Chelsea will drop points and allow Arsenal to close that gap, but as long as the Gunners can keep their momentum going and continue piling up wins, they can keep a lot of pressure on the league leaders and hope that some of that pressure keeps them from being at their very best.
- Of course, Everton won’t be too eager to let Arsenal keep that momentum going, and will be trying to do everything they can to use their home-field advantage to their, well, advantage. With so many crucial Arsenal players either out or slowed by injury and their own team finally getting healthy again, this could be a great opportunity for Romelu Lukaku and company to get a big, statement win and reestablish themselves back on the radar as a team that can be a big threat in the EPL.
- To do that, though, Everton will have to find a way to win for the first time in six weeks, a run of futility that may be tough to overcome. They’ve looked decidedly mediocre even against some of the weaker teams in the EPL of late, showing some serious flaws in their possession game and defensive setup that Arsenal should be able to exploit quite ruthlessly if given the chance — and if anything is certain, it’s that Arsenal will not let those chances slip by easily.
