Sunderland are hoping to actually get some positive momentum rolling after getting a win last weekend, and they now have a chance to claw their way out of the relegation zone — but those hopes might be about to meet a buzzsaw in the form of Manchester United.
Manchester United vs. Sunderland 2016 live stream: Time, TV schedule, and how to watch online
Sunderland are hoping for a holiday season miracle, but Manchester United don’t look much like obliging them.

Manchester are on a four-match winning streak in all competitions — their first such run all season — and haven’t lost a game since early November. Things have been far from perfect during that unbeaten run, with too many dropped points and weak performances that have put pressure on Jose Mourinho’s job security, but they’ve been much better in recent weeks and are starting to look just a little bit like a team that’s supposed to be fighting for the top four.
With such momentum and growing confidence behind them, there’s no reason to think that Manchester United will do anything less than look to throttle Sunderland and put them right back into the doldrums of the middle of the relegation zone. Especially with former and much-loathed United boss David Moyes making a visit to Old Trafford as Sunderland’s manager.
