Every year, Boxing Day marks a moment where the Premier League season turns a corner. The grace period that fans and owners give to players and managers struggling to get things right has expired, and from this point forward, quality results will be expected.

In the case of Alan Pardew, he wasn’t even given the holidays to turn things around. Crystal Palace fired him midweek, and his old team will get a start at life without him against Watford in Boxing Day’s early game. Arsenal vs. West Brom is the featured fixture for American audiences during the midday stretch, while Chelsea vs. Bournemouth is also available on TV. The day closes with relegation battlers Hull City hosting a Manchester City side that’s spent this season riding a roller coaster.

This season, the Premier League is trying out something a bit different. Instead of having every team play on Boxing Day, games are spread out, with more coming in the days following. If you’re a Tottenham Hotspur or Liverpool fan, for instance, you’ll have to wait to see your team play its holiday fixture.
