Arsenal vs. West Ham 2016: Start time, TV schedule, live stream, and 3 things to know

West Ham and Arsenal are limping their way into this match, and both are in absolutely desperate need of a win.

As West Ham United get set to host Arsenal at London Stadium, thing aren’t looking too great for either team. Arsenal are threatening to fall out of the early title race, West Ham are teetering on the edge of the relegation zone, and things are generally looking less than stellar for both of the London-based clubs.

Of course, those kinds of struggles mixed with a local rivalry like this can make for an interesting match. That extra bit of desperation can force what would otherwise have been a dull match into something eye-grabbing, something intense and incredible. Whether Arsene Wenger and Slaven Bilic can orchestrate their teams into creating that sort of atmosphere is unknown, but they are certainly going to try.

TV: NBC (U.S. - English), NBC Universo (U.S. - Spanish), BT Sport 1 (U.K.)

Online: NBC Sports Live (U.S.), BT Sport Live Streaming (U.K.)

Match Date/Time: Saturday, 12:30 p.m. ET, 5:30 p.m. local

Venue: London Stadium, London, England

Three big things to know

  1. Both of these teams are badly battered by injuries, with numerous key players missing from their lineups. That means both Arsene Wenger and Slaven Bilic will have to do a lot of work to patch together not just a competitive side, but one that matches up well with their opponent. How they solve those problems is going to be interesting to watch.
  2. Neither team is in terribly good form right now. West Ham haven’t won in over a month, and Arsenal have just one win since the first day of November, including a humiliating bouncing from the League Cup at the hands of Southampton on Wednesday.
  3. Of course, in matches like these, when there’s so much going against both teams, it’s a good time for unlikely heroes to step up and make a name for themselves. Players have the opportunity to play a big role when they might not otherwise, and have the chance to establish themselves as a must-start option. The winner of this match will almost certainly see a player like that emerge.
