The Capital One Cup may be Sunday’s showpiece event, but there are equally important happenings a couple of hours before, when title chasers Tottenham Hotspur take on struggling Swansea City in the Premier League. Mauricio Pochettino’s side head into the match only two points adrift of league leaders Leicester City, and have a tantalizing chance of lifting their first English top flight title since 1961.

However, Swansea certainly shouldn’t make life easy. Francesco Guidolin’s side have lost only once since the Italian replaced interim boss Alan Curtis, yet still find themselves only three points clear of the drop zone. Their squad is more than good enough for them to steer clear of the bottom three, and they’ll surely be fighting tooth and nail for the remainder of the campaign to ensure they do so. That said, they’re winless in their last three matches, and suffered a disappointing defeat at home to Southampton last time out.
Key player: Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur)
Harry Kane is undoubtedly the headline-grabber in this Tottenham team, but Dele Alli is hurtling inexorably towards stardom in his debut top-flight campaign. The former MK Dons midfielder has been a joy to watch, matching great industry with bags of technical skill in midfield. He's sure to be a thorn in Swansea's side at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

Despite the disappointment of their current campaign, Swansea have been generally pretty good over the last few seasons. However, that hasn’t stopped Spurs from putting together a thoroughly impressive streak of seven straight wins against the Welsh outfit, who haven’t beaten the North London side since 1982. If Swansea win on Sunday, it would be their first ever victory at White Hart Lane.
