Tottenham Hotspur will look to close within five points of Premier League leaders Leicester City when they travel to Stoke City for their game-in-hand on Monday evening. With time quickly running out for Mauricio Pochettino's side to reduce their deficit to Claudio Ranieri's pacesetters, they can't afford to slip up. Spurs have won three of their last five league matches, having not been beaten since a defeat away at West Ham at the start of March.

Tottenham Hotspur will look to keep the pressure on Leicester City with a win away at Stoke on Monday.

Stoke's Britannia Stadium is traditionally a very tough place to go for travelling teams, but Mark Hughes' erratic bunch have been rather inconsistent in front of their own supporters this season. A patchy recent run has seen them win just one of their last five Premier League matches, and only seven of the 16 they've played at home so far this campaign. They're certainly in with a chance, but they're going to have to be at their very best.
Key player: Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur)
By now a rather predictable choice, but predictable for a reason. Spurs’ young attacking midfielder Dele Alli is in his first season as an established Premier League player, and he’s already proven a matchwinner. The England international’s rise has been nothing short of meteoric, and Stoke’s deep-lying midfield pair will have to deliver fine performances if they’re to stop him in his tracks.
Recent history
These sides played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture back in August, with Spurs conceding twice in the last 12 minutes to drop two points that may well be decisive come the end of the season. Before then Stoke had won two on the trot against Pochettino's outfit; not since Tim Sherwood was in charge of Spurs have they managed to get one over on the Potters.
Stoke City injuries and suspensions
Out: Jack Butland (ankle); Glen Johnson, Marc Wilson, Jon Walters (knee); Erik Pieters (suspended). In doubt: Marko Arnautović (knee), Glenn Whelan (back).
Tottenham Hotspur injuries and suspensions
Out: Clinton N'Jie, Nabil Bentaleb (knee). In doubt: Harry Kane (thigh).
Only Liverpool are topping Stoke City at the top of the Premier League's injury table at the moment, with Hughes again set to be without a handful of his players for this match. Their woes are compounded by the suspension of first-choice left-back Pieters, though midfielder Whelan and attacker Arnautović could return if they pass late fitness tests.
Spurs, meanwhile, have no important absentees, with rotation players N’Jie and Bentaleb their only two definitely unavailable. However, star striker Kane will have to recover from a thigh injury if he’s to play a part.
