Some FIFA executives upset after surprise vote to change ethics and other key committees
Maybe Gianni Infantino is just more of the same.

Did you think the FIFA crisis was over? New president Gianni Infantino says it is, which is exactly why he decided to make some changes to the organization’s structure during the first FIFA congress that he presided over. Those changes have some people very mad.
FIFA audit and compliance chief Domenico Scala left the congress in disgust in reaction to a vote on the ethics committee and other related matters. Prince Ali bin al Hussein, who challenged Infantino in the last election, claims that Infantino destroyed key reforms that staved off corruption.
“The motion on which the member associations were asked to vote, on the last day, came as a complete surprise to all,” said Ali. “On effect, we were suddenly being asked to approve a change to the statutes that removed the independence of the ethics committee, the audit and compliance committee, the appeals committee and the reform committee.”
“The damage that can be done to FIFA if the situation persists is immeasurable,” Ali continued. “A highly respected man in FIFA, Domenico Scala, has already resigned over this. The independence of the oversight bodies is essential to be able to cooperate with external law enforcement.”
FIFA, of course, disagrees. They’ve called these claims “baseless,” though have yet to clarify why the changes they voted on won’t hurt the clean-up of FIFA.
