For 88 minutes of the women’s UEFA Champions League final, Olympique Lyonnais dominated. Then their defense went to sleep, goalkeeper Sarah Bouhaddi whiffed badly on a cross, and Alex Popp scored for Wolfsburg to force extra time with the score locked at 1-1. No one scored during the added period, so penalties were required, and Wolfsburg took an early lead when star striker and scorer of Lyon’s goal Ada Hegerberg missed the opening spot kick.
