Mexico have been one of the Copa América Centenario’s most impressive performers so far, but it will all be for nothing if they fail to deliver in their quarterfinal against Chile on Saturday. So far, Juan Carlos Osorio’s men have breezed past Uruguay and Jamaica before being held to a draw with Venezuela, though that didn’t stop them progressing as group winners. They’re looking genuinely like one of the strongest sides in the tournament, but Chile are likely to represent their toughest test yet.
Chile vs. Mexico 2016: Start time, TV schedule and live stream for Copa América
Mexico will look to continue their fine form in the Copa América quarterfinals.
Chile’s first tournament since the exit of inspirational coach Jorge Sampaoli hasn’t all been plain sailing, though they bounced back from an opening defeat to Argentina with victories over both Bolivia and Panama. Talismanic attacker Alexis Sánchez has twice been on the scoresheet, and he’ll likely be the man to cause the biggest problems for the Mexican defense on the weekend.
That said, Chile seem to have problems of their own at the back: They conceded five goals in their three group stage games, with two of them against minnows Panama. They’ll have to keep things a little tighter if they’re to stand any chance against a Mexico team in such fine form.
