A win for them over Albania coupled with a loss by Switzerland and a two-goal swing in goal differential would see them take second place and a spot in the knockout rounds away from the Swiss.

But Albania won’t go quietly into that good night. They may have lost their first two group matches, but they performed well in each match despite the results. A similar performance against an uninspiring Romania side could be enough to get a win -- and a win gives Albania a chance to end among the best-placed teams that finish third in their groups, which would see them through to the knockout rounds instead of Romania. That’s definitely worth fighting for, and we’ve all seen this summer how international teams with nothing left to lose and everything to gain can put on a show.
