The Copa America final takes place on Sunday, and it’s a dream matchup. Lionel Messi, perhaps the greatest player in the history of the sport, has an opportunity to capture his first major international trophy. His team, Argentina, have a chance to redeem themselves after losing last year’s final. And Chile have a chance to show that their group stage loss to Argentina was the fluke match, not their victory a year ago.

Last year’s edition of Copa America was held in Chile, and La Roja took full advantage of the partisan crowds, impressing from start to finish. Just like the World Cup final the year before, Argentina lost Angel Di Maria to injury, and couldn’t overcome his absence as the Chileans won. Di Maria has suffered an injury for the third straight major tournament, but he’s expected to be fit enough to start the final.

Chile started slow in this tournament, looking nothing like the best version of themselves in their group stage defeat to Argentina. Their star midfielders didn't take well to claims they were old and unfit, and have returned to their high-octane, constantly pressing best. The Chile that's been playing over the last two weeks is not the same team that started Copa America, and Argentina -- who obliterated the United States in the semifinal -- will know they're in for a major test.
