The highly anticipated Copa America rubber match between Chile and Argentina has finally arrived. Argentina won the group stage game between the two teams, but La Roja are the defending champions, having beaten La Albiceleste in last year’s final. Along with a trophy, years of bragging rights are on the line.
Argentina vs. Chile: Lineups for the Copa America final
Welcome back, Angel di Maria.
Chile are sticking with the lineup that got them here, with no recent injury or suspension issues forcing changes. However, Argentina have altered their setup as they try to get Lionel Messi his first-ever trophy in an Argentina shirt.
Angel Di Maria returns from an injury and is listed as the left winger. He plays the same way whether he’s played there or in central midfield, and his inclusion instead of another true winger or playmaker is an indication that Argentina want to be a bit more solid defensively. With Lucas Biglia in the center, this is the most defensive lineup they’ve fielded at this tournament.
Argentina starting lineup (4-3-3): Sergio Romero; Marcos Rojo, Ramiro Funes Mori, Nicolas Otamendi, Gabriel Mercado; Javier Mascherano, Lucas Biglia, Ever Banega; Angel Di Maria, Gonzalo Higuain, Lionel Messi
Chile starting lineup (4-3-3): Claudio Bravo; Jean Beausejour, Gonzalo Jara, Gary Medel, Mauricio Isla; Marcelo Diaz, Charles Aranguiz, Arturo Vidal; Jose Fuenzalida, Eduardo Vargas, Alexis Sanchez
Kickoff is just after 8 p.m. ET. You can catch the game on FS1 and Univision.
