Once again, Chile has denied Lionel Messi and Argentina in Copa America, and have repeated as champions in the prestigious tournament. Just like in 2015, the game was hotly contested and ultimately came down to penalty kicks.

The two sides fought to 120 scoreless minutes and while Messi came up short with his penalty kick, Francisco Silva provided the clincher. Officially, Chile came out on top, 4-2, after penalties to defend their title. Sergio Romero saved Chile’s first attempt, and Messi sent his shot well over the crossbar. Claudio Bravo saved a shot from Lucas Biglia as well.

It was the very first time in Messi’s career that he’d missed in a penalty shootout. The shot wasn’t close, and his error was Chile’s gain.

With the massive upset victory, it's time to celebrate the Chile National Team. If you're looking for the latest gear and apparel to show your support, then the SB Nation sports shop has you covered.
