Mexico vs. Uruguay, Copa America 2016: Start time, TV schedule and team news
Two of the best teams in the Copa America Centenario face off in Phoenix in what should be an excellent match.

The newfound aggression of Mexico under Juan Carlos Osorio could prove to be decisive against the more defensive style of Uruguay under Oscar Tabarez, though La Celeste will have plenty of attacking tricks of their own in store for El Tri. They will, however, be without talismanic striker Luis Suarez thanks to injury, an absence that will be keenly felt in the final third as they simply don’t have anyone who can replace his dynamic presence. They’ll do their best to adapt to life without him, though, so Mexico should not and cannot expect things to go easily just because Uruguay’s best player is not on the pitch.
Key player -- Edinson Cavani (Uruguay)
With Luis Suarez out injured, Uruguay’s hopes in the final third will rest on Cavani’s broad shoulders. He’s coming off an excellent season at Paris Saint-Germain, but he struggled badly without Suarez in the Copa last summer, and has never looked as good without his strike partner in international matches. Uruguay need him to find the better side of his play in the group stage, though, because without that quality and without Suarez, they will be hard pressed for other options in the final third.
As Mexico’s best goalscorer, Chicharito’s performances so often dictate how their games go, and while he’s been playing well for club and country of late, he’s going to get a stern test against Uruguay. Godin is back in the heart of their defense and is coming off an excellent season for Atletico Madrid -- and more, he’s coming into this match with a big chip on his shoulder after Atleti lost on penalties in the Champions League final. He’ll be out to prove a point and work off some hurt feelings in this match, and Chicharito might find the going tough in the final third because of it.
