Colombia and the United States were expected to duke it out for top spot in Group A of Copa America, and after the opener, Los Cafeteros are in great shape. They recorded a 2-0 win over the hosts, meaning they can afford a mistake or two and still get to the quarterfinals.

Colombia has some breathing room, but Paraguay needs a result.

Paraguay will be hoping to take advantage of just that. If Colombia has let their guard down just a little bit, they’ll want to take all three points from this game.
It’ll be a tough task, but the Paraguayans probably can’t afford to just sit back and prioritize keeping a clean sheet after their opener. They were better than Costa Rica in the first half of their first game, but the heat slowed down both teams, and they had to settle for a 0-0 draw. After that, the pressure is on Paraguay to get at least four points from their last two games.
What’s at stake
For Colombia, not a ton. They can draw this game and still go into their last match with Group A well in control. They can lose and still control whether they advance to the quarterfinals. They bought themselves some breathing room by beating the United States. For Paraguay, they need to at least avoid a loss. A draw might be a decent result for them, depending on what happens in the early game, but it might not be. What happens between the USMNT and Colombia might actually inform their strategy.
Key player -- Carlos Bacca
James Rodriguez wasn’t great against the USA, and he picked up a knock that might keep him out of this match. But whether James plays or not, Bacca is probably going to have to create some shots for himself. He looked dangerous on the break against the Americans, but he’ll have the tougher task of finding space against a more conservative team on Tuesday.
