As the Copa America Centenario group stage marches on, Uruguay find themselves in a very awkward and unfamiliar position: chasing Venezuela in the standings. After Uruguay lost to Mexico and Venezuela beat Jamaica in the first round of action, La Celeste find themselves three points behind a team that they feel they are much better than, and in desperate need of a win over their South American rivals. Another loss would see Uruguay all but out of the Copa America, a position no one in that country or team wants to be in.

Uruguay are in desperate straits already and need to beat Venezuela to pull themselves out of danger.

Venezuela know that all the pressure is on Uruguay, though, and they rode a similar position to a 1-0 win over Jamaica -- albeit one that they were perhaps lucky to hold onto. If they can take advantage of that pressure again, however, another point could be enough to help them sneak into the knockout rounds -- and three points could guarantee them a post in the knockouts, depending on how things go between Mexico and Jamaica.
There’s a lot on the line in this match, between Uruguay’s desperation and Venezuela looking to play the spoiler. That kind of circumstance always has the potential for something crazy to happen during a game, so be ready for absolutely anything once the whistle blows.
