The Premier League season is back! The first matchday brings us a battle between two of the most popular sides for fans based in America, with Everton hosting Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs are hoping to take another step forward after a strong campaign last season saw them finally qualify for the Champions League again, but the more interesting story here might be that of Everton.
Everton vs. Tottenham Hotspur 2016 live stream: Start time, TV schedule and how to watch online
Champions League-bound Tottenham are exciting, but seeing what massive change has brought to Everton might be far more interesting.

Everton are in a state of sudden and significant change, having sold their top defender in John Stones and bought several players across the pitch in his place. That comes on the heels of new ownership and a new manager, with Ronald Koeman coming in from Southampton to instill a new vision and direction in the club. Hopefully he’ll make Everton a competitive side again, but in the meantime fans will settle for being better at all after too many years of struggling. USMNT star Tim Howard may not be anchoring the Toffees in goal any longer, but fans should still keep a close eye on what’s happening at Goodison Park going forward.
Tottenham Hotspur will be expecting to challenge for top four again after finishing third last season, but will now have to deal with juggling Champions League. They’ll want to pick up points while they can before their schedule gets too tough.
