Manchester United were enjoying a perfect start to their season -- right up until they lost to arch-rivals Manchester City last weekend and then got tripped up by Feyenoord in the Europa League on Thursday. Now they have to get back on track in English Premier League action, but have to do so facing a Watford FC team that has surprised many observers this season.

Watford have earned just one league win so far this season, but they’ve been competitive and dangerous in every match. They looked completely believable as a good EPL side in a road win against West Ham last weekend, and the Hornets have definitely looked like they’re adapting well to the chaotic but effective stylings of their new manager, the energetic Italian Walter Mazzarri. Watford have got the right combination of confidence and form to present a huge risk of upset for Manchester United right now, and they’re going to fight for every inch of ground and chance at a goal that they can get.

They’ll be especially boosted by United’s already-long journey back from Holland being worsened by the mental drain of a loss and a poor performance against Feyenoord, even more so coming off the heels of that disheartening loss to Manchester City a week ago. Jose Mourinho had his side playing extremely well before that loss, but the hangover effect from it was obvious on Thursday as they looked lost and disorganized for much of the match. Unless they can dramatically turn things around against Watford, there is every chance that Mazzarri and company can get something amazing from this game.
