Transfer deadline day 2017: Rumors, signings, and news for January

Welcome to January’s transfer deadline day. Tuesday is the last chance for clubs to reinforce their teams for the rest of this season. Most big teams are happy with their squads and not making too many big moves, but given the short nature of the January window, there should be some deadline day action.

In most of Europe, the window closes at 6 p.m. ET, which is 11 p.m. local time in England and midnight on most of the continent. The Germans are a bit more efficient and will have things wrapped up by 11 a.m. ET, while Italy’s window closes one hour before most of the continent.

Below, you’ll find a running timeline of all of the biggest rumors as they pop up throughout the day, plus all of the biggest confirmed signings separated out. It’s good to separate fact from fiction on a day notorious for rumors of helicopters flying around everywhere and players showing up at clubs that haven’t even had a transfer bid for their services accepted.

Mamadou Sakho has joined Crystal Palace on loan at the transfer deadline.

Manolo Gabbiadini has signed for Southampton.

Dimitri Payet has moved to Marseille, which we’re not sure is a good idea.

Crystal Palace has announced the signing of Luka Milivojevic.

Las Palmas has won the race to sign Jese on loan from PSG.
