A month ago, Tuesday’s match between Chelsea and Liverpool at Anfield looked like a game with major title implications. Now, the Reds are just trying to hang on in a race that’s slipping away from them quickly. They’re 10 points behind and haven’t won in their last three Premier League matches.

The Blues are in good form, while the Reds are battling a downturn.

But Jürgen Klopp’s issues go beyond the league. His team has also been knocked out of two cups during that stretch, and in rather embarrassing fashion. They were comfortably outplayed by Southampton in the EFL Cup, then got dumped out of the FA Cup by Wolverhampton Wanderers. A home loss to Chelsea could turn a rough patch of form into a full-blown slump.
The Blues, meanwhile, are doing just fine. They recovered from their loss to Spurs with back-to-back shutout wins over Leicester and Hull, re-establishing themselves as the clear title favorites.
Chelsea has a full bill of health, with all of their first-team players available for selection. Liverpool has a few more concerns, though not serious ones. Nathaniel Clyne is a slight doubt with a rib injury, while Sadio Mane might not be quite fit to start after flying back from Africa Cup of Nations.
