Leicester City famously overcame 5000-to-1 odds to become Premier League champions last season, and their manager has been honored for his accomplishments. FIFA named Claudio Ranieri as The Best FIFA men’s coach of 2016 for his work in charge of the Foxes.
Claudio Ranieri wins The Best FIFA men’s coach after guiding Leicester City to Premier League title
Leicester’s incredible Cinderella story has led to Ranieri being named the best coach in the world for 2016.

Ranieri was a last-minute hire after Nigel Pearson’s exit in 2015, and he wasn’t a popular choice after he struggled while in charge of Greece. But Ranieri turned out to be the perfect manager for Leicester, as he quickly figured out how to get the best from his players. Under Ranieri, Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez, and N’Golo Kante transformed from virtual unknowns into global superstars.
While Leicester’s had a tough time in the Premier League this season, Ranieri added to his list of accomplishments in the UEFA Champions League, winning their group ahead of FC Porto, FC Copenhagen, and Club Brugge.
Before joining Leicester, Ranieri was most famous for finishing runner-up in four different leagues, but never winning a major title. Now, he not only has his first championship, but this award to go with it.
