Police body cam footage shows Alex Morgan arguing with police after Disney incident

“You guys are lying right now. I can’t imagine what black people go through.”

Police body camera footage was obtained by local news outlets and TMZ of USWNT and Orlando Pride superstar Alex Morgan being questioned following an incident at Walt Disney World in Orlando. In the video, Morgan and her friends can be seen disagreeing with officers about the events of the night.

While disputing an officer’s description of her behavior, Morgan can be heard saying, “You guys are lying right now. I can’t imagine what black people go through.”

The incident happened on Oct. 1 when the Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Epcot Center to a report that a group involving Morgan and several MLS players had become rowdy at a pub in the U.K. section of the park and became argumentative with other patrons.

Morgan and friends were described as “highly impaired” and “verbally aggressive” by officers, prompting them to be asked to leave Disney World. She apologized publicly a few days later, saying:

Initial reports of the incident stated that Morgan told police she “knew the SWAT team,” which was believed to be an attempt to coerce police into letting her leave.

In response to the video’s release, Morgan said the video supported her position that she wasn’t “highly impared.”

“Although I regret my actions last Sunday while attending the Epcot Food and Wine Festival with my family and friends, the video released today shows that while we were all caught up in the tension of the moment, I was not out of control or highly impaired,” Morgan said. “I used bad judgment and I was simply trying to support my friends.”
