Olympiacos Piraeus are struggling right now, but with Barcelona coming in carrying numerous injuries and with their focus potentially elsewhere, they’ll be hoping to sneak in a win here and not only win their first points of the Champions League this season, but also give themselves a much-needed jolt of momentum.
Olympiacos vs. Barcelona 2017 live stream: Time, TV channel, and how to watch Champions League online
Struggling Olympiacos want to get something going against Barcelona.
Barcelona are without six key first team players, with Gerard Pique suspended, plus injuries to Andres Iniesta, Ousmane Dembele, Rafinha, Aleix Vidal, and Arda Turan. Add that to defenders Javier Mascherano and Thomas Vermaelen being well below full fitness, and Ernesto Valverde will have a tough time filling out his lineup, especially with a tough La Liga tilt against Sevilla coming this weekend.
That opens the door for Olympiacos to steal a result here, but they have to overcome their own shaky form — they’re failed to win a single group stage point in this season’s Champions League through three matches, and on top of that they’ve lost three of their last five league matches as well. It’s been tough sledding for Olympiacos this season, and they could dearly use the momentum a win over Barcelona can give them. The question is whether or not they have enough in the tank to pull it off right now, and even with Barcelona coming in hurt like this, it’s a big question.
