Peru vs. New Zealand 2017 live stream: Time, TV schedule, and how to watch World Cup qualifier online

Peru are hoping that home-field advantage will let them win their first World Cup spot since 1982.

It’s been 35 years since Peru have been in the World Cup, but they’re potentially a step away from getting back there. They’re hosting New Zealand in the second leg of their inter-confederation playoff tie, and a win in front of a wild and rowdy Lima crowd would send them to Russia in 2018.

Peru have been one of the more fun stories in international football over the last year, running off a three-game winning streak at a vital moment late in CONMEBOL’s group qualifying process, putting them in position to capitalize on Chile’s late swoon and pip the playoff qualifying spot.

They beat Uruguay, Bolivia, and Ecuador before pulling out dramatic draws against Argentina and Colombia — and arguably were the better team in both matches — to get here, and then played New Zealand to an absolute standstill halfway across the world in the first leg. They’re ready to grab that brass ring and advance to the World Cup, but they have to win on Wednesday to do it.

But New Zealand can’t be counted out. They can’t boast the same form as Peru — they’ve lost five of their last nine matches with just one win in that span — but they’re still a talented team and must be treated seriously lest they create a huge shock. This tie is still very much up for grabs, and it’s going to be a lot of fun watching it unfold.
