Real Madrid wants another Club World Cup title.

It’s been a strange season for both teams so far. Real Madrid, who won the Champions League and La Liga last season, but have struggled their way to fourth place in La Liga so far this season and failed to win their Champions League group. They’ve had multiple strings of utterly unconvincing and even concerning performances so far this season, and even went down in the first half of their Club World Cup semifinal match against Al Jazira before coming back in the second half to win 2-1.
Gremio won the Copa Libertadores in November, but struggled to put together any kind of consistent form in the recently-finished Brazilian Serie A campaign. Since mid-August, they’ve only managed to win even as many as two matches in a row just once in all competitions, and while their weird form’s pattern lead them to a Copa Libertadores title over Argentine side Lanus, it certainly doesn’t lend their fans much confidence coming up against a top-quality team like Real Madrid, even if their own form has been all over the place.
