Progression won’t be easy for Los Merengues in the Round of 16.
Napoli have been excellent in their last two games, comfortably beating Genoa 2-0 on Friday after a 7-1 demolition of Bologna in the previous week. Madrid will be satisfied with their La Liga play, with their three consecutive wins guiding them to the top of the table, but Barcelona are right on their heels.
Neither team was particularly impressive in the group stage, with Madrid finishing behind Borussia Dortmund and Napoli only taking 11 points from a weak group. But both teams have improved since then, especially defensively.
The only player missing for Napoli through injury is backup defender Lorenzo Tonelli, while Gareth Bale is still not fit enough to play for Real Madrid. Otherwise, both teams have full strength squads for this matchup.
