Can the Gunners reverse their Round of 16 misfortunes?
This round has not been kind to Arsenal, who haven’t progressed from it in seven years. Bayern, meanwhile, have made at least the semifinals for five seasons in a row.
It hasn’t been smooth sailing in the Bundesliga this year for the Bavarians, but they’re still the clear title favorites. No clear favorite has emerged, and Bayern currently sits seven points clear of the pack at the top of the table. In the Premier League, Arsenal predictably sits in fourth place.
As usual, Arsenal is dealing with some injury problems, though it could certainly be a lot worse. Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey are both out, leaving the Gunners’ midfield a bit thin. Lucas Perez is also a scratch with a minor hamstring problem. Bayern Munich is only missing one player, center back Jerome Boateng.
