Atleti built up a big 4-2 aggregate lead in the first leg in Germany, and those four away goals will likely be the biggest factor for them to win the tie. Bayer aren’t a bad team by any means, but Atleti looked much better in the first leg, and Bayer’s form hasn’t improved any. They’re winless in three matches since then, including a 6-2 drubbing from Borussia Dortmund two weekends ago.
Suffice it to say, Bayer will need to be much better than that if they’re going to have any chance of coming back in this tie. Even then, though, it’s going to take a magnificent performance to overcome Atleti, because their form and quality look almost unbeatable for Bayer’s current form right now.
