World Cup qualifying has gone surprisingly well for Ecuador, standing in third place while even having enjoyed a spell atop the qualifying table in CONMEBOL before Brazil got white-hot. Now, as they get set to head to Paraguay, they have a chance to cement themselves as one of the South American teams heading to Russia in 2018, and that’s not an opportunity they can let slip by.
World Cup qualifiers 2018: Paraguay vs. Ecuador start time, TV channel, and live stream
Ecuador are hoping to go on the road to cement their strong position in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying table.

Despite Ecuador’s hot start, though, not everything has been going exactly to plan for them -- they’ve won just two of their last five qualifying games, and have found consistent goalscoring to be tricky. Their lightning-quick counter attacks are brutally effective against some teams, but when a team sets up to shut that down, they find themselves with precious little in the way of options.
Of course, Paraguay’s struggles are much worse — they’ve lost four of their last five qualifying matches, falling out of the places that advance to the World Cup while slipping five points back of guaranteed advancement. There’s still time to get back on track and make it a fight again, but with just six qualifying matches remaining, they have very little room for error left.
