Chile vs. Venezuela, 2018 World Cup qualifier: Game time, TV schedule, and live stream

As Chile get set to face Venezuela on Tuesday, they’re still reeling a bit and licking their wounds from a tough loss to Argentina last week. That loss coupled with other results sent Chile tumbling out of the qualification places in World Cup qualifying in CONMEBOL, and if Chile want to go to Russia in 2018 then they’ll need to work to get back into those spots again as soon as possible.

Perhaps fortunately, their first match after that setback is against Venezuela, a team that’s struggled their way to last place in the CONMEBOL qualifying standings with just a few matches left to go. Chile hammered them early in the qualifying group stage, winning 4-1 in Venezuela. Chile have actually won four straight games against Venezuela dating back to 2012, giving up just that one goal across all four games and scoring a whopping total of 14.

So it’s easy to look at that history and the relative quality of the two teams and think that Venezuela don’t stand a chance, but Chile’s attack looked oddly out of sorts against Argentina, a team that they’ve been able to create consistent danger and chaos against in recent years. And with Venezuela looking surprisingly strong in a 2-2 draw with Peru last week, we could be in for a much stronger match than we were expecting and a potential surprise result that could wind up having major implications on the qualifying race.
