Sunday's Premier League encounter between Sunderland and Manchester City is a game with big ramifications at both ends of the table. Sunderland head into the match six points adrift of safety, and currently sit rock bottom. If they're to pull off another miraculous relegation survival, they're going to start having to win games soon.

City, meanwhile, can't afford to get complacent as they continue to fight for a top four finish. Pep Guardiola's side have recovered from a wobble with three straight Premier League victories, though Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United remain within touching distance.

Three big things to know

1. Sunderland haven't been lucky on the injury front so far this season. For this match they'll certainly be without Paddy McNair, Lee Cattermole, Duncan Watmore and Victor Anichebe; Vito Mannone, Jordan Pickford, Jan Kirchhoff, Billy Jones, Jason Denayer and Steven PIenaar all face late fitness tests.

2. City will be without Ilkay Gündogan and Gabriel Jesus, who look likely to miss the remainder of the season. Aleksandar Kolarov is an early doubt.

3. Manchester City have won six straight matches against Sunderland in all competitions, though Sunderland have failed to score in only one of those matches. Given the defensive difficulties Pep Guardiola’s side have had this season, the Black Cats may be confident of getting on the scoresheet again here.
