Things aren’t looking good for Arsenal in the Champions League as they head into their second leg against Bayern Munich. Even with the home-field advantage in this match, they still have to deal with a staggering 5-1 deficit after the first leg, and that four-goal gulf looks all but insurmountable right now.

There isn’t much hope for Arsenal but to try to restore at least some measure of dignity before being dumped from the Champions League.
It looks even worse when you compare the two teams’ forms since they last met. Arsenal have played twice — one an easy-but-unimpressive win over a non-League team in the FA Cup, and the other a harsh slap of a 3-1 loss to Liverpool this past weekend. Bayern, on the other hand, have been rolling, scoring 15 goals and giving up just one in their four matches since thumping Arsenal.
Suffice it to say, Arsene Wenger and company have a huge, uphill battle to face, one that feels like it will be a significant struggle thanks to his team’s poor form and off-pitch distractions. The ongoing blowup with Alexis Sanchez is going to be a big problem for Arsenal to deal with until that bridge between player and manager can be mended, especially since the Chilean forward is Arsenal’s best attacking talent by far.
