Two of the Champions League favourites go head-to-head in Tuesday’s quarterfinal first leg, with Juventus welcoming Barcelona to Turin. It’s a rematch of the 2015 final, which the Catalan outfit eventually won 3-1 in Berlin two years ago. Given events since, Juve will be confident of reversing that result this time around.
Juventus vs. Barcelona 2017: Start time, TV channel for Champions League
Juve welcome Barça in Tuesday’s Champions League clash of the titans.
Though Barça are still a very good team, their recent form has left something to be desired. Luis Enrique’s side needed to pull off a record comeback to beat Paris Saint-Germain in the last round, and head into this match on the back of a surprise 2-0 defeat away at Málaga in La Liga. They’ve not been firing on all cylinders, and Juve could well make them pay.
Massimiliano Allegri’s men have been in fine fettle of late, and have stormed six points clear at the top of their domestic division. It looks only a matter of time before they wrap up a seventh consecutive Serie A title, and they should well be able to carry the confidence into their European campaign.
Juventus’ only absentee is young attacker Marko Pjaca, who will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing knee surgery. Barcelona aren’t so lucky: they’re without the injured Aleix Vidal and Rafinha, while Sergio Busquets is suspended and also won’t travel. Arda Turan will have to pass a late fitness test if he’s to be involved.
