FINAL SCORE — Juventus 3-0 Barcelona

Barca pulled off a miracle comeback against PSG after losing in the first leg, but Juventus’ defense is a bit more formidable. It’s hard to see the Blaugrana overturning this result. Here’s a recap and 3 things we learned from Barcelona’s win over Juventus.

89’ — Juventus holding out for the clean sheet now. Playmaker Miralem Pjanic is off for defender Andrea Barzagli.

81’ — Dybala’s night is over, he’s off for Tomas Rincon. Expect to see Dybala linked to all the big English clubs in tomorrow’s tabloids after this.

73’ — Juan Cuadrado has picked up a knock, so he has to come off. Mario Lemina replaces him.

68’ — Suarez just misses! Incredible through ball by Messi to Suárez, who gets by Leo Bonucci to get a shot off. Buffon gets the slightest of fingertips to it, though, tipping it out for a corner.

63’ — Mario Mandzukic gets cleaned out by Sergio Roberto and is hurt. Mandzukic is the one that gets booked. Not sure how to explain that decision, it doesn’t make any sense.

55’ — GOAL, Juventus 3-0 Barcelona. Chiellini scores off a corner! This is a mauling.

54’ — And Higuain has a shot saved from close range! He should have passed, really. Mandzukic was wide open for a tap-in at the back post.

53’ — Juventus did wake up. Cuadrado has a shot saved from 20 yards.

52’ — Juventus better wake up. Barca’s had a few half-chances and looks like scoring.

46’ — Second half kickoff, and Barcelona has made a change. Central midfielder Andre Gomes is on for defender Jeremy Mathieu, which probably means Mascherano will become a defender.

HALFTIME — Juventus 2-0 Barcelona. Raise your hand if you saw that coming. What a first half performance from Juve, who have now gone 396 minutes without conceding in the Champions League.

44’ — Higuain almost makes it three! He takes a rip from 20 yards and looked to have scored, but ter Stegen does enough to parry his shot wide.

39’ — Barcelona looks dangerous but Juve’s back line has been up to the task. Chiellini has made a couple of key blocks in recent minutes, including one on a header by Suarez that looked destined for goal just now.

30’ — Messi has the ball in the net, but it won’t count. He got the ball from Suárez, who was offside when the ball was passed to him.

22’ — GOAL, Juventus 2-0 Barcelona. Dybala does it again! Barcelona’s defense lets Juventus walk right through them. No one’s even near Dybala when he picks up the ball from Mario Mandzukic strikes from 15 yards. Ter Stegen appeared to have his view impeded by Gerard Pique and never saw the ball.

So, about that Mascherano-Dybala matchup we mentioned at kickoff. Mascherano’s getting badly outplayed.

21’ — Huge save by Gigi Buffon! Messi plays an amazing pass through to Andres Iniesta, but the Spaniard can’t beat the legendary keeper. Gigi celebrates his save as if the final whistle just sounded.

12’ — That goal woke up Barcelona. Their forwards are pressuring aggressively now and Lionel Messi draws a free kick from Giorgio Chiellini on the edge of the box. Messi put it over the bar, but it’s still a good sign for Barca.

7’ -— GOAL! Juventus 1-0 Barcelona. What a start for the Blaugrana! Dybala collects a pass from Juan Cuadrado around 12 yards from goal, spins, then curls a perfect left-footed shot in at the back post. Brilliant stuff.

UK readers can watch the goal here.

3’ — Big chance for Juve! Gonzalo Higuain is inexplicably left open on a free kick and directs a header towards goal. He hits it right at Marc-Andre ter Stegen though. He probably should have scored.

1’ Kickoff! — If you’re looking for a big matchup to watch today, keep an eye on Paulo Dybala and Javier Mascherano. The Argentine enforcer usually plays in defense for Barca, but he’ll be taking Sergio Busquets’ spot today. He’ll have his hands full with Dybala, his countryman, who’s become one of the most complete attackers in the world this year.

The Champions League returns on Tuesday with a truly marquee match. Juventus, five-time defending Serie A champions and recent Champions League finalists, host FC Barcelona in the first leg of their quarterfinal tie.

Juve is flying on top of Serie A again this season and has been boosted by some big summer signings. The biggest among them is Gonzalo Higuain, who starts against the Blaugrana. The former Madridista would probably be thrilled to score against his old rivals.

Neymar is suspended for the next three La Liga matches, but that doesn’t affect his status in Champions League, so he starts alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez for Barca on Tuesday. He was the the key player in Barcelona’s triumph over Paris Saint-Germain in the last round, taking over the game in the final minutes to lead their comeback.

This is a live blog, and you’ll see updates constantly throughout the match above.
