Two of the biggest teams in the Premier League are going head to head on Sunday and neither team is entirely happy with their standing in the EPL right now — but with neither Arsenal nor Manchester City quite at full health, this match represents an opportunity for whichever team can better deal with those problems to get closer to where they want to be at the expense of a rival.

Two EPL giants in need of a big and positive result clash in London on Sunday.

Manchester City entered the weekend in third place in the EPL, but Liverpool’s big win in the Merseyside Derby saw them slip back into fourth place, though they’re not in immediate danger of falling any lower thanks to a four-point cushion over crosstown rivals Manchester United. But their momentum leading into the international break was still far less than ideal, with just two wins in five matches, and they very much need a big performance on the road against Arsenal to get things headed back in the right direction.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are well outside of anywhere they want to be in the EPL table right now, all the way back in sixth and a whopping seven points behind Manchester City. Arsene Wenger’s team has been spinning out of control of late, losing three of their last five matches, with only wins over a pair of non-League teams in the FA Cup during that time. They’ve gotten utterly taken to task otherwise, and they need some kind of turnaround before the season spirals away from them.
Manchester City are only certain to be missing two players — Gabriel Jesus and Ilkay Gundogan, who are recovering from a broken foot and a torn ACL, respectively. They are, however, going to be dealing with a number of important players who either might not play or certainly won’t be at full strength, with Raheem Sterling, Kevin de Bruyne, Bacary Sagna, and Pablo Zabaleta all dealing with various injuries that will slow them down if they play on Sunday.
Arsenal will be without goalkeeper Petr Cech thanks to a calf injury, a major blow that will cost them a lot of the defensive confidence and surety they had enjoyed of late. Kieran Gibbs and Lucas Perez are also doubts, and Santi Cazorla is out for the season with a foot injury.
